Meeting Green Thrive in Scottsdale

Scottsdale’s community-wide commitment to environmental sustainability makes planning green meetings in our city a breeze. Eco-friendly attractions and activities, low-impact transportation options and celebrated resorts with an environmental conscience all await to make your vision of the ideal green meeting a reality. You’ll also find a roster of celebrated chefs committed to using the finest organic ingredients in their restaurants. Let us show you how to meet green – Scottsdale style!

Low Impact Meets High Style at Scottsdale Resorts

The Boulders Resort, The Waldorf Astoria Collection has created a 5,280-square-foot organic garden where a variety of seasonal produce, including melons, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, squash, cabbage and even chocolate mint, are grown for use in the resort's restaurants. As part of its transition into an all-organic resort, The Boulders also offers an organic wine list at Latilla, its signature restaurant, and organic products at the spa salon, and uses indigenous plants and grasses that require less water for landscaping.

At the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch, everything from paper to glass and metal is recycled. The resort also reuses old guest towels for rags and turns grass clippings into fertilizer for their lush lawns.

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess offers "disposable-free" food and beverage services, in-room recycling bins, optional sheet and towel replacement, and menus incorporating local and organically grown foods. The resort also established an employee volunteer "green team" to figure out ways to make the hotel more environmentally conscious and recently installed new energy-efficient controls for its boilers.

Valley Ho Room

Since reopening in 2006, the Hotel Valley Ho in downtown Scottsdale has recycled more than 48,000 pounds of paper, installed water-saving guest room features and switched to more efficient fluorescent light bulbs help conserve energy. The property also saved 200 tons of landfill waste by using the original 50-year-old structure instead of tearing it down and starting from scratch.

FireSky Resort & Spa, as part of the Kimpton chain, has adopted standard environmentally friendly products and practices such as the use of soy ink for the printing of all corporate collateral and property-wide printing on recycled paper. The resort also participated in Kimpton's EarthCare program, which involves a quarterly review of resort products and practices with an eye toward reducing its impact on the earth.

Starwood Capital Group is launching the first luxury, eco-friendly global hotel brand, "1" Hotel and Residences, with plans to build one of its first locations in Scottsdale. The concept combines environmentally sustainable architecture and interior design with impeccable service and luxurious comfort.

Other green meeting options include Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West, Cosanti, Scottsdale Civic Center and The Gateway to Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Visitors also will find a variety of fabulous hotels in resorts in the downtown area. By staying downtown and taking advantage of the free Scottsdale Trolley service, you can experience many of Scottsdale's attractions, galleries, shopping venues, restaurants and nightlife without renting a car.
