Nightlife Itinerary

When the sun goes down, Scottsdale shines with a whole new energy. From happy-hour hotspots dishing up innovative apps and cocktails to late night diversions that keep the excitement going into the wee hours, here are a few local favorites that will help you make the most of your Scottsdale night.

Happy Hour Hotspots

  • Start the night off right with the margarita’s more health-conscious sister, the Primarita at The Mission.
  • Order a round of seasonally inspired cocktails for the whole gang at Citizen Public House.  Drinks change weekly (and sometime nightly) so be prepared to be delightfully surprised each time you visit.
  • Take in the sights of Modern Steak’s pretty scene and prettier crowd, then indulge in some handcrafted libations, like the Perfect Pimm’s Cup, made with just about every fruit under the sun.
  • Take in the striking vistas from J&G Steakhouse with a unique cocktail list and elevated bar menu perfect for light noshing.  Be sure not to miss the uniquely refreshing Ginger Margarita.

Roka Akor

Dinner Options

  • Take a culinary journey through the masterful modern Mexican food of Chef Richard Sandoval at La Hacienda and don’t leave without trying a tequila flight (the Snake Bite is our favorite!).
  • Eat your veggies – especially the highly praised braised leeks with mozzarella and a fried egg – at FnB Restaurant, where they specialize in locally sourced and creative cuisine paired with Arizona wines.  But don’t mistake this as an all-vegetarian joint - the Creekstone Ribeye is enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
  • Make a reservation at Roka Akor, one of the “Top 10 Sushi Spots in the United States” as voted by Bon Appetit magazine.
  • Toast to history at Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon, Arizona’s original steakhouse.

Rusty Spur

After Dinner Entertainment

  • Enjoy a fun (and free!) affair, the Scottsdale ArtWalk, every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the downtown Scottsdale Arts District.
  • Two-step over to The Rusty Spur Saloon, a Western bar with a come-as-you-are attitude and live music.
  • Continue the boot-scootin’ fun at Handlebar J Restaurant & Saloon with live entertainment and dancing from some of the best names in country music like co-owners Ray Herndon and the Herndon Brothers Band.
  • Live in the charm of the 1950s with mid-century themed cocktails (you can actually order a drink called the Ricky Ricardo) at ZuZu at the Hotel Valley Ho.

Edge Bar

Late Night Escapades

  • Head over to one of Scottsdale’s most popular nightclubs, Axis/Radius, which is a favorite even among celebrities like Will.i.am, P. Diddy, and Kendra Wilkinson.
  • Travel back to a (more glam) gothic Medieval era at Wild Knight, one of Scottsdale’s newest nightclubs.
  • Get down to live house music shows and DJ nights at Myst, a tri-level nightclub with two dance floors, six bars and massive outdoor patio.
  • Fawn over the modern twists to classic cocktails at The Mint (try the aptly name Mint Cocktail, made with Grey Goose La Poire, Starfruit, Mint, Lemon & Fizz), an ultra lounge that opened in May 2011.
  • Sip on some of the most creative cocktails in Scottsdale at Jade Bar and Edge at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain, home to some of the most breathtaking views of Paradise Valley and beyond.
  • Go sky-high at Talking Stick Resort’s 14th-story lounge, Degree 270, with live jazz music and views of iconic Camelback Mountain.
