Rock Climbing in Scottsdale Takes You to New Heights

Novices and certified rock rats alike will find plenty of quality climbing routes and spectacular scenic views in Scottsdale. For sport or traditional routes on excellent granite, Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve boasts over 200 named climbs with a wide range of difficulty ratings on formations like Tom’s Thumb, Sven Slab and Granite Ballroom.

You’ll also find great climbing at Pinnacle Peak Park. The park’s namesake 200-foot granite peak, as well as Cactus Flower and Y-Crack Boulder, offer a variety of traditional crack and bolted routes.
